COVID Diary-Day 4

This morning I decided to make myself a hot drink. Jasmine green tea it is. The thing is that I don’t know how to open the lit of this kind of electric kettle, which is different from mine at home. So I gave it a try, yet couldn’t figure it out. I even googled it, but there’s no opening the lit part available (maybe there is but I didn’t carefully look through enough). So I called the nurse. She was trying to explain to me though, but that wasn’t helpful. Coincidentally, I discovered by myself during the call. Yesterday, I did have a problem with microwave too. It’s damn complicated. It should be that simple, but I swear to God this one is not very user-friendly. Perhaps, it’s my brainless incapable me that make life even harder.

My troublesome kettle and a cup of tea

Department of disease control called me in the afternoon. This was unexpected. They should have called to investigate me earlier. Nevertheless, the lady was nice as she was asking questions about where I had been. She tried to help me figure out the source of my infection. Could be hospital toilet, she construed. And that led to another long conversation with another department, national health security office (สปสช.) as I was curious about financial term for this virus treatment. This government department made things more difficult. The way the lady explained was complicated although she intended to help me following her duty. It seems like, if I want to raise the issue for financial support, I have to write a petition and submit related documents to them. I ended up calling the nurse at my hospital instead. So the nurse asked for me from the hospital’s financial department. The answer was astonishing. I don’t have to pay anything! According to her, the fee will be firstly paid by insurance. The insurance does not cover the entire cost, however, but the rest should be transferred to UCEP (for private hospital). I don’t know how this thing works, but I am doubtful that everything is free. How come I stay like a king, eating high quality food, enjoying cool AC end up paying nothing to this hype?

My room was also cleaned up in the afternoon after 3 days. The whole process was done by probably a nurse or a cleaning lady in a PPE suit. It was real fast. The whole room, including to the toilet where she mainly put her effort to clean my mess, was finished in less than 5 minutes. She had to do it fast because of the safety protocol, I guess. She seems rush also. I said thank you once she finished.

That’s was about today that I want to write down. But I have to include this dinner meal in this diary because it’s a slice of heaven in my mouth! What I had for dinner was Saba with Miso sauce, which doesn’t look appealing in the first place. In fact, it looks like a clean food to me. It turns out to be the most tasty Saba I’ve ever eaten. It tastes better than the one in Japan or other fancy restaurants! It’s very juicy and boneless. Omg, I just loved it.

My dinner set: Saba with Miso sauce, fried tofu, rice, soup, salad, and seasonal fruits

Another day has just passed. The doctor didn’t call me today due to the fact that my symptom hasn’t been severe. Relatively stable, I’d say. I truly hope that all the treatment is really free of charge (really? hmm..), and of course I expect more flavorful meals to come.
